How can I earn a Nova Scotia graduation credential if I am 19 years or older and have been out of public school for more than one full year?

You are considered an adult student if you

  • are 19 years of age or older and;
  • have been out of public school for one full year or more and;
  • do not already have a Department of Education recognized high school graduation diploma

The Department of Education has designed the Nova Scotia High School Diploma for Adults to respond to the needs of adult students requiring a graduation credential.


How can I earn a Nova Scotia High School Diploma for Adults?

To earn a diploma, you will need to successfully complete 12 credits from any one or a combination of the following choices:

  • grades 11 & 12 Public School Program credits offered by regional school boards,
  • Adult Learning Program Level 4 credits offered by the Nova Scotia Community College,
  • Correspondence Study Program credits offered through the Department of Education
